Our Projects
Hands of Compassion provides help to those in need in our community and around the world. Below are some of our projects we have collaborated with and reached out to within our community. Your donations will help provide a greater outreach to those in need.
A Simple Gift
They want no child to enter foster care empty-handed. Safe Haven has developed a program like no other, making care bags that are unique and personalized for each child based on their age and gender. They work with individual counties family services departments as well as private organizations to hand deliver each and every bag donated.
Did you Know?
Over 11,000 kids are in foster care in MN right now. Most of these children enter into a foster home with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
I ask if you would partner with me this Christmas season to raise $25,000 to be able to purchase goods and gifts for over 250 children living in foster care in Anoka county and surrounding area Each bag will contain a few necessities along with a gift. Did you know? Donations can be made by check, payable to Hands of Compassion, or online at www.hofcompassion.org 100% of all donations will be used for building bags for children in foster care
Heartland Girls Ranch’s mission is “to provide strength-based, trauma-informed services and therapeutic equine programming in a safe and supportive environment that empowers girls to experience success and write a new story for themselves.”
Knowing that these girls had endured trauma and would be finishing their treatment through the holidays, it was important to me to give them a Christmas gift that brought a smile to their faces. So in December of 2015, each girl had received a large tie blanket with a pair of warm fuzzy socks and a journal that they could write their thoughts throughout their healing process, which was all tied and bundled together with ribbon.
After they had finished opening their gifts we were all able to do a picture frame craft and spend some time together.
Sharing and Caring Hands’ mission is “to be an extension of the community to the desperate needs of the poor and exists as a vehicle for volunteers to commit their time and resources towards making a difference in the lives of others. And to stand as an emotional anchor and a beacon of hope to those who are alone, afraid, or in need.”
December of 2013 I had chosen an organization named Sharing and Caring Hands where a woman named Mary Jo Copeland had built an amazingly safe place for children and people who were unable to purchase housing or food for their families. Going into it I had a goal to raise enough money to be able to buy 400 gifts, and it was amazing to not only purchase 400 gifts but to be able to purchase over 400 gifts for the children at Mary Jo’s place.
“At Children’s Hospital, We depend on the generosity of people like you to help us improve pediatric health and enhance the patient care experience. Because at Children’s, we don’t just care for children, we care for the most amazing people on earth.”
December of 2012 all proceeds went to buy gifts for young children at Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. This being the first year of buying Christmas gifts for children, my simple purpose was to buy gifts for as many children that were possible that would remain in the hospital through Christmas. Being in the hospital is never fun, but especially not fun through the holidays unable to celebrate with loved one. My purpose was just to brighten their day a little with a simple little gift that they could enjoy while being at the hospital.
